Grandpas

At Lake Powell each year I get to see at least one set of his Grandparents. I love his Grandparents dearly. Ross is one of Trent's grandpas. I feel a wonderful connection to this man and have to fight tears every time I say goodbye to him. I am sure we were good friends before we met in this life. I love watching my children getting to know and interact with their great grandparents. This year as we enjoyed spending time with them at Lake Powell I felt an ache in my heart. I am so sad that my children didn't get to meet my Grandpa Jay. Didn't get to enjoy his giant "bone-crusher" hugs and get to sit on his lap and feel his wrinkly elbow skin with their little fingers. I am sad they never got to hear his voice say "So long" on the telephone or enjoy waffle dinners at his house, or listen to his jokes, or see the "Jay stick to your diet" magnet on his fridge. But, I am so glad that I got to experience it all, so that I can tell them about him. Now time for us to spend some more time with Grandma Donna!

Can't seem to upload my scanned pics of Grandpa Jay for now. Maybe better luck tomorrow.

More Lake Powell- Sand fun

Sorry if you're sick of all my Lake Powell pictures, but too bad, so sad. Here's more.
Paisley with her black eye being a "O-bot, O-bot".
Tucker posing as he jumps from a small cliff at the bottom of the giant sand hill. Charlotte was determined to climb to the top of the sand hill with some of her much older cousins. I had no desire to ever climb that thing, but then I decided I could use the work out so I trotted up there to help her out. It was tough and she was such a trooper. Uncle Bart got some pictures that maybe I'll get to post one day.Having fun with her favorite cousin Ashlyn! They are so funny together.Tucker joining in the fun.
Paisley getting in on a friendly push up contest I started with the cousins. I love that she won't be left out!

I wonder. .

Does anyone else ever wonder, "I wonder what Geena Davis is up to these days."

Well, I don't either, usually. But last night when Henry came in my bed around 3 he woke me from a very strange dream that I don't remember most of. Mainly an english librarian man who delivered a spiritual message to me and a young Geena Davis with long black hair.

Just more strangeties from the crevasses of my mind.

The Joys of Motherhood

Here we are at beautiful Lake Powell. I'm riding in the boat with Paisley all snug in her life jacket fast asleep on my lap. And my imagination starts running wild. What is it about being a mom that means you can imagine the worst possible scenario for any situation?

I start thinking, I'm glad that Paisley can sleep in this life jacket, because I can't take it off of her in the boat, you know, for safety's sake. Because what if, by chance she happened to fall off the back of the boat, and then what if her arm was severed by the propeller and I ended up taking a helicopter ride to the hospital with Paisley strapped to a gurney and her little tiny arm in a cooler of ice on the other side of me? What? There must be something wrong with me, because that is what went through my head. . .

Lake Powell motorsports

Henry couldn't get enough of riding on the "Danger" aka the Ranger.

We also enjoyed Grandpa's quad and Daddy's dirtbike.

Lake Powell 2010 watersports

Trent is awesome on the Air Chair. He gets such huge air. He gets practice too, since he goes about once a week with some buddies from work to swim about a mile, then they air-chair.  It is such a funny looking sport. His dad and brother's Blake and Bart are really good as well (Blake busts out the back flips). None of the girl's do it. This year a couple of the older nephews got up on it as well. I tried a lot. I managed to get up for about half a second (Victory!)
Then I stuck to the wakeboard. I actually got a little air once, but we didn't get a picture (of course).

Tucker did some kneeboarding. It was pretty stinking cute. When he started turning his knees from side to side and waving to us instead of just going straight the whole time he told us that was his first time doing tricks!
Each of the kids got to ride the tubes, I even took Paisley for a ride. Charlotte and Henry even got to wakeboard with their dad. Uncle Blake took Charlotte the first time, then Trent got to take them later.

I'm back

We've been gone on our annual trip to Lake Powell since Tuesday of last week. I have tons of pictures I want to share. We had such a wonderful time. A few days before we left we had a wonderful day with my sister Sarah and her boys. The girls wanted to snuggle her in my bed. Cute.

We also enjoyed lots of food and fireworks on the 4th with Trent's family. I love my country and the freedoms we enjoy. Henry heard me use the term "promised land" and uses it occasionally, much to my delight.
