still no pics

Still trying to figure how to get my pictures from my phone onto the computer. We've had some great fun in the pool this week. And we got to enjoy Moqui for two days in a row. Tucker has lost his two bottom teeth! Finally. And Sarah and her boys came over Friday night. I've been really enjoying life! I am so excited because we bought some paint for the front room and some curtains should be coming in the mail this week! Aaah. I'm excited that I finally got bitten by the decorating bug and can't wait to transform this house into a home that I love being in.

Trent bought a pool slide and although it is not cemented in yet with the water hose hooked up, he rigged it so we could use it on Saturday. After the kids had been enjoying it for a while, I decided I would try it out. I said to Tucker, " I think I'm ready to go down the slide now." To which he responded, "Seriously, Mom? Seriously?" I looked at him and said,"Yeah, seriously."
Which is when he said, "I don't know if it's wide enough." Ouch.

Crazy old lady

Could I be slightly insane for thinking this light fixture would be fun to have over my dining table?

camera

My littlest girl loves taking the camera and pushing all the buttons. I usually try to keep it out of her sights unless I am holding her. However sometime last week she took it outside and ruined it. I was scolded by Trent (always a good time) and am sad that I have only my cell phone camera to use for the time being. However, maybe since my birthday is coming up, now would be the time to get a real camera, like an SLR. I don't know anything about photography, but I think I could really enjoy a nice camera. I have plenty of children to give me lots of photo ops to practice.

This weekend we went to an early birthday celebration for my Brother in Law Blake. I stole this pictures of Trent and I off my lovely SIL Andrea's blog. Enjoy.

More girl time!

Sisters! Emily, Sarah, Karen

My big sister Emily got to come down from Utah for the weekend. She was mainly here to spend quality time with my sister Sarah. Sarah is currently undergoing radiation treatments for her brain tumor. Friday night we were able to all get together (sisters Sarah, Emily, Robin, and Karen) along with Sarah's friend Melissa and her daughter Morgan and my two little girls. Charlotte was so excited to go on a "girl's night" with me :)
This is Sarah in her "Hannibal Lector" radiation mask. I have yet to see it in person.
Then Saturday evening we were able to have Emily and Sarah and her boys over for a tasty grilled dinner and the kids all swam.
Sunday we spent more time with the family at my parents house. It was lovely. I stole some pictures from Emily's blog. I'm sure she won't mind. :)

Fun Fun Fun

Wednesday my niece Moqui spent the day with us. She is just 2 weeks older than Charlotte and they were adorable together. They were playing house most of the day and found singing several times. They even braved the pool, though the water wasn't warm enough for me to venture in.

Thursday morning Charlotte was screened for a preschool that works with kids that have certain developmental delays. We (I) was worried that Charlotte wasn't where she needed to be. She can be hard for strangers to understand at times and has trouble with certain letters (F mainly). They told me that she was quite articulate for a four year old and doesn't need speech therapy. I was happy to hear it. We ran to the grocery store on our way home where she took this photo of herself. Then she spent most of the afternoon with Grandma and her cousin Ashlyn for a "princess party". She was so exhausted she was out cold before dinner!

Then when Trent walkied in the door it was time for my girl's night for this month! Boy was I ready. Henry and Paisley haven't been feeling 100% well and there had been a fair amount of crying, and fits and not sleeping well. I had dinner at California Pizza Kitchen with Abbie, Mel, Kristen, Diane and Marie. I had such a great time. All fun girls who are so easy to talk too and funny and beautiful! After dinner we walked over to AJ's fine foods where we picked up desserts. We headed back to my house where we met up with two more friends, Kim and Janae. And then we did what women do best. Talked and talked and laughed and talked. I didn't get to bed til almost 2 am! Now I could use a nap.

Just Kidding

I may have spoken prematurely about Henry pooping in the toilet. I thought after he pooped two days in a row in the toilet we were golden. Turns out I was way off. After those two days, Henry was home with Trent one afternoon and went in his undies. I don't think Trent was very pleased. After that Henry held it all in for 3 entire days before unloading in his pants this morning before I took of his night time diaper:( Sorry for all the bathroom talk. I'm done now.

Help! Drapes.

I want some pretty drapes for my front room. I want to find/make or have made some for under $300.

I found custom ones on ebay in this print on linen that come fully lined. Problem: the buy it now price is $425 plus $20 shipping.
I like the prints and colors in these Amy Butler fabrics, which the seller(who is local) told me I could get 15 yards for $7 a yard ($105). But then I have to make them (which I'm not sure would be great as I am not a seamstress by any means or pay someone else to sew them.) It is decorator weight fabric, would I still need to line it?

Or I can always by in cheap store ones a basic color and try to paint the walls cool. What would you do?

Mother's Day 2010

I am lame. There, I said it. I have been thinking about Mother's Day for a couple of weeks now. I had every intention of handmaking lovely gifts for my Moms and sisters. I had plans to wrap them beautifully.
So how did I end up at the mall at 8pm on Saturday night? I just did. Bath and Body works saved the day.
I did make some cute handprint flower magnets of the kids hands which turned out pretty cute.
I love having a laminator.

It was my first time leading the primary kids through singing in sacrament and it went pretty well, so that was definitely a bonus.

I'll be honest, I was pretty irritated with my husband all day. He made up for it today by cleaning the kitchen before I got out of bed.

The highlights of my day were the paper flowers that Tucker made at school and the one that he wrote on "I'll love you forever" among the other ones that said things like "I'll clean my room and make my bed."
Charlotte felt badly that she didn't have a gift for me. She found the prettiest rock she could find, washed it in the sink " to make it shiny" and brought it to me with a kiss. BEST EVER.

The thing I needed most was the talk in church that made me remember why I'm a mother, how important it is, and how wonderful I can make it. At this moment I am completely resolved to do it better. To speak kinder. To pay more attention. To yell less. To snuggle more. To read more, to play more, to sing more.

More craigslist cravings

I honestly just want to make my house pretty. I spend way too much time looking for lovely deals on craigslist that I'll most likely never get to buy. If you want to check my latest wants link over to my Oooh I Want That post.

The latest

This girl is a ham in front of the camera. Her new pretty pose includes legs crossed and hands together on her legs. And you know what else? She can ride her bike without training wheels now!
This kid always does a strange face for the camera and quickly covers his lips when I want to kiss him. Although he always asks me to come back after I give up. And you know what else? He pees and poops in the toilet! It's been quite a while since I had only one kid in a diaper.

Summer hair

So, the boys all got their hair nice and short for the hot summer that is quickly approaching us. Well, for some time I have been loving every cute short hair cut I see and wishing I had short hair. But I kept telling myself that I had finally gotten it nice and long and that I should enjoy it for a while. But real life kept me pulling that hair into a pony tail almost everyday and when it was down it was never quite as pretty as I wanted. It was frizzy unless I flat ironed it and it took way too much time to curl when the only people I see regularly are 4 small children, check out people at grocery stores, people at the gym and a husband who doesn't seem to take notice of much when it comes to me. So I looked at some cute pictures of short hair online and made up my mind to just chop it. Friday morning I looked like this.He let me make the first cut.

Friday night like this. Trent had no warning and I think he is getting used to it. He wasn't negative. He just said, "wow" and pretty much left it at that. I am liking it and am excited to play around with it even more. It is pretty weird washing my hair and running my fingers around in it. I find myself doing a double take when I walk past mirrors.

Saturday we got to go on a way-past-due date night. A temple session together and dinner at The Cheesecake Factory was just what the doctor ordered. Thanks to Trent's dad for watching the kids for us! What a treat :)

Aha

So the camera turned up under one of the seats in my car. Right now I am feeling bloated and greasy from the 3 pieces of pizza I just downed. I know it's unacceptable and yet. . .At least I jogged 2 miles this morning right?Anyway at last night's "bunko" activity we fabric painted shirts. Mine didn't turn out perfect (I had a little seeping of paint) but I still loved how they turned out. when looking for something cool, fun, funky, retro that Tucker would like I stumbled across The Thundercats logo and knew it was perfect. I would have loved it even more just a little larger and with different colors, but the only solid color shirt I found in Tucker's size was brown. It was a hit and 2 other girls used it as well. It looked great in black and yellow. I love russian nesting dolls and was looking at some images of them when I stumbled across the images I used for Charlotte's shirt. I still need to make Paisley and Hanky something, but for now these are it.
Also found these cute pics of my kids watching their Aunt Karen blow bubbles
And did I mention the freaky barbie mask Charlotte printed off our computer?

kickstart my brain please

I think I could use a swift kick to the noggin. I've misplaced my camera once again. I am always taking it from sticky little hands and putting it where they can't get it. And then I can't find it later! Aaah.

Plate Wall

Here are some inspiration photos for the plate wall I want to do.

I have these giant "plant shelves" in our front room, kitchen, and family room. I know that I want to make a plate wall in the kitchen one. I just haven't made enough trips to the thrift stores. One day. Hopefully sooner than later. I like looking at china on craigslist too. So many pretty things.

Somebody had their first time-out today

Grass!

It's beautiful. Even if it was impossible to keep the kids off it and now it's all bumpy.

Camping

I'm glad Charlotte has a cousin for a best friend! I was lucky enough to have 2!

Tucker, Baxter and the DS.

Henry posing for the camera.

Andrea (due in June) and sicky Weston. Puked all night :(

Whenever we get the urge to go camping, Trent and I usually go to these super nice cabins in Christopher Creek, that his boss kindly lets us use. Trent even gets work done while we are there. But this past weekend Trent's brother Blake invited us to go camping. Real camping with tents, and s'mores and everything. I was worried about how Paisley and Hank would sleep, and how we would all crowd in a tent together with Paisley's pack 'n play. It was actually perfect. It was very cold at night, but everyone in our family (besides me) seemed to sleep great. We had tons of fun riding quads, pushing dump trucks and hanging out around the fire!
